Acne Problems

Acne is one of the most common skin problems afflicting the human race and it affects people irrespective of age, caste, colour or gender. Acne is a tremendously embarrassing and troublesome problem, because it is so obvious and off-putting. Acne can be defined as red eruptions on the skin, sometimes filled with a white substance, causing itchiness and pain. The most common form of acne is called acne vulgaris or puberty spots.

Acne vulgaris can be defined as: an inflammatory disease of the skin, caused by changes in the pilosebaceous units (skin structures consisting of a hair follicle and its associated sebaceous gland) . Acne lesions are commonly referred to as pimples, spots or zits – [source: Wikipedia]. It is a problem over which we do not have complete control. There are different ways to treat acne; one can go for medication from a skin specialist or one can also try home or natural remedies.

Home treatments are less time consuming, less costly and have no side effects. However, they do take a bit more patience, because certain routines have to be followed rigorously in order to get rid of the problem for good. A natural cure for acne is just as effective as medication. Here are a few home cures to eradicate your acne. To start with, your daily consumption of water ought to be a minimum of eight to ten glasses. This helps you to detoxify your body and destroy the harmful bacteria that cause acne.

An over-balance of oily food also leads to acne, therefore fried, oily and spicy food should be religiously avoided. A near complete abstinence of fried and fatty food will have a marked, beneficial effect on any acne outbreak. Moreover, if you eat more chromium and zinc in your diet, it will help to eradicate acne. There has to be the correct balance of diet and skin care.

A mixture of nutmeg powder with unboiled milk regularly applied on the affected area also helps to cure acne. Cinnamon powder mixed with honey is equally effective in treating. Boiled Neem tree leaves applied to acne acts as a disinfectant. ['Neem': A tall, usually evergreen East Indian tree (Azadirachta indica) widely cultivated in tropical Asia for its timber, resin, bitter bark, and aromatic seed oil, which is used medicinally and as an insecticide (source = 'Free Online Dictionary')].

The infected area must be washed with special anti-acne soap a minimum of three or four times a day. Make-up must be religiously avoided when afflicted by acne. Make-up makes acne worse. Acne must never be squeezed as it may cause infection or / and make it worse. Squeezing your acne can also lead to permanent scars on your skin, which results in your skin looking rough. Avoid letting your hair fall onto the acne-infected area either.

Your hair should be kept tied back to prevent touching the acne. Pillow cases should be washed on a daily basis to prevent the germ spreading. The regular cleansing of your skin should be done to keep it free from bacteria. Apart from this, a healthy lifestyle should be followed with a balanced diet, exercise and sleep. Remember, if you take good care of yourself, illnesses will have less chance of affecting you, especially such a small thing as acne!

A Reiki Master Course Will Change your Life – Did you ever think about It?

A Reiki Master Course gives you as an introduction, insights on what Reiki is, who can practice Reiki and the importance of the Reiki principles.

Reiki can be seen as multidimensional. The energy permeates to the core of the imbalance in mind, body, and spirit, the nucleus of the cell, and then moves gradually outward through the tissue balancing and healing.

The Reiki practitioner’s body is the instrument through which universal energy flows. The energy is drawn by magnet resonance of any imbalance in the mind, body, or spirit of the person, animal, or plant.

Reiki Master Course Intro 1: What is Reiki?

In Japan, in the early 1920s, Mikao Usui developed Reiki-ho (Reiki method) as “the way to make mind and body healthy on the basis of Universal Reiki”. Reiki is the vibration of love and harmony of universal energy. Reiki-ho is not only a wonderful “healing technique”, but also “an effective way to raise spirituality and to create a positive life”. Reiki brings all within and around the body into balance, surrounding with harmony, and thus healing the mind, body, and spirit. I have had students say to me, “Reiki is making such a positive difference in my life.”

Reiki Master Course Intro 2: Who is able to practice Reiki?

Because Reiki is from God, Goddess, Buddha, Allah, The Creator, Spirit, Source, The Universal Mind, Your Inner-Self, or whatever you call Him, Her, or It, anyone can “do” it. We are all equal, and we ALL have the ability to heal others and ourselves. It is our birthright. Being a Reiki “Master” doesn’t make someone better than anyone else, and it doesn’t even mean that you have mastered the art of Reiki (such a thing wouldn’t even exist if you ask me), it simply means that you have been attuned to the Master Level of Reiki, learned all of the Reiki symbols, and know how to send attunements, etc. In my personal opinion we should all be called Reiki practitioners, but since the attunements are only given, or should I say, accepted from Reiki Masters, you can see why there needs to be some kind of distinction. To some people, the title “Master” gives them a feeling of superiority or power, just like with many other occupations.

Reiki Master Course Intro 3: The Reiki principles are very important!

As an important part of the Reiki Master Course you will learn the Reiki Principles, which the founder Usui always emphasized to his student. These principles are:

Just for today…

Do not worry. Do not get angry. Be grateful. Work hard. Be kind to others.

Think for a moment. If only 1% of humanity would stick to these principles, how would be the world look like today?

Some Of The Benefits Of Meditation

Meditation has its origins in Eastern culture, but it has been practiced for centuries in cultures all over the world. Meditation refers to a large variety of practices and techniques and includes guided meditation, transcendental meditation and mindful meditation practice. Many different techniques can be used, such as the focus of the mind on certain objects or words, or on the breath. Sometimes a particular posture can be used but isn’t necessary.

It’s easy to learn meditation, there’s no special equipment involved, and it can be done almost anyplace. The benefit of stress reduction may be experienced after only one session. Most research has found that just 20 minutes a day can result in the long-term benefits attributed to meditation. In fact, only 10 minutes of practice a few times a week can create the same effect.

Regular meditation can have positive impact on both physiological and psychological health. The alpha state can be achieved through meditation, and this is the brainwave state associated with the level of consciousness that encourages healing. Meditation can be used as a relaxation technique, but it also enhances mental sharpness, psychological health, the treatment of diseases, and overall health of mind and body.

Researchers have found that meditation acts on the parts of the brain controlling the autonomic nervous system that is in charge of involuntary functions of the body like digestion or blood pressure. These functions can be inhibited by stress, so meditation can help with stress-related conditions like digestive problems or heart disease.

In one study that was published in Psychosomatic Medicine, there were 90 cancer patients who practiced mindful meditation for a period of seven weeks. At the end of this time, the patients in the study reported that they had much less depression, confusion, anxiety and anger. They also reported having higher energy levels and not as many heart and gastrointestinal issues.

At the Maharishi School of Management in Fairfield, Iowa, researchers studied a group or people who meditated for four months. They discovered that the participants had lower levels of cortisol, which is also known as the stress hormone, and were able to deal with stress in their lives better.

Research can help confirm some of what we know about, but there are obviously many benefits we can claim without research. Meditation offers benefits to almost everyone, and has no reported ill effects.

Getting Motivated to Loose Weight

Losing weight doesn’t require some complicated formula. All you need to do is eat better, eat less, and exercise more. Even though it looks easy on paper, real life is different. Creating a weight loss plan and seeing it through is really hard, and it’s going to take willpower and discipline.

Most of us develop unhealthy patterns of being sedentary and eating foods that are not good for us. If you’ve fallen into that pattern, it can be hard to break out of. At times you will be tempted to skip out on exercising for just one day or having dessert just this once but won’t do it again. Don’t forfeit your long-term weight loss goals for momentary short-term pleasure.

Weighing yourself daily provides excellent motivation, and the numbers on the scale donat lie. You will see numerical reminders of your progress every day if you do this. When you feel like breaking your diet, just visualize how the scale would read tonight. That can be the boost of willpower that you need to turn down temptation. That can be the reason that you exercise hard every day.

But it will take more than daily weigh-ins. You have to choose a goal for yourself, whether it is a certain waist size or a certain number of pounds lost. Whatever gets you really excited is a great long-term goal. Allow the goal to enter your mind several times per day.

Make a picture of that goal and put that goal in a major location where you will see it every day. Put that picture in your wallet or on the fridge. The fridge works well because it has a direct link to what you are eating and what you are trying to achieve. Put a picture in your wallet so every time you open it up you see your goal. Hang up the outfit you want to wear on the bedroom door.

Third, tell a couple of supportive friends about your goal. Agree to update them at specific times on how you are doing. Be specific both on the goal and on the times. Peer pressure can be a positive thing if used correctly.

Some common pitfalls are getting sidetracked by short-term successes and comparing yourself to others. Remember that you are in this for the long haul, not just to succeed in losing a few pounds and then gaining it all back. And forget about others. Comparing yourself to someone else will only make you feel bad.

What it takes is breaking your long-term goal up into lots of small, manageable steps. Measure your progress daily. Enlist the help of friends. Real weight loss takes time so be patient and stick with it. Keep reminding yourself of your ultimate goal and you’ll be able to push yourself until you achieve your dreams.

Turning Dreams into Realities is as Easy as Brushing Our Teeth

Can’t making dreams come true be just as easy? Can’t we free ourselves of our doubts? Is it not possible? How can we do it in a way so that it looks as easy as brushing our teeth? This is an excerpt form the book named ONE by Masami Sato and it shows how it can be done step-by-step, getting one ready to start walking towards one’s dreams today.

All of us have dreams. But all of us do not have faith in ourselves so that we can have those dreams and live them in our lifetime. In fact, the secret to have such assuredness is simple. And the reason why we hesitate so much is also straightforward.

Let’s begin with the first question that we can ask ourselves

Why don’t we do everything we always wanted to do?

Often, our thoughts stop our actions. Sometimes the more we think about it, the less we become committed to accomplish what we initially wanted to do. Because the more we think about it, we come up with more and more reasons for not doing it.

Then is it possible that one can be certain that one will definitely accomplish what one wants to do in his life?

Sure, absolutely! To start with, let us look at the power of habits

If we have to be present at a meeting tomorrow night, we would not be spending too much of time thinking whether we would be able to get there or not. We would not be worried about the possibility of having a car accident and failing to attend the meeting. In fact, when we go to use the toilet, we are unlikely to worry if it might be out of order.

We are always more assured about these day-to-day activities that happen every day. These are the habits.

However, we doubt our dreams

Most interestingly, there are plenty of things we are not equally sure about. Particularly the things that we really want to in life – our Dreams!

Then, what is the secret for the conviction that we will accomplish our dreams?

First: Decide to make it a daily habit!

We can start being more certain about our actions to meet our desires-the type of desires that really nourishes our life.

As for example, if your dream is to be a factor in improving society, and it is an important desire in your life, it will be possible for you to play that role and contribute to society. It can easily be made one of your daily habits.

Second: Make is as important (and equally easy) as brushing one’s teeth.

Realising dreams can be just like brushing one’s teeth. It simply doesn’t feel nice if we do not brush our teeth for pretty long, isn’t it? We can’t bother to spend hours considering which toothpaste we should use or wait to clean teeth till there is some need to do so. We feel a little out of sorts if our teeth are not clean. So we clean them. That is all!

Coming back to our example, if giving is so important to us, we have to ask ourselves certain questions: What if giving is in fact of as much importance as brushing our teeth? What if it is making us feel good? What if it is helping to maintain our health?

Irrespective of how much or how little we own right now, we surely can start offering it and sharing it today. As such, no matter how improbable the realisation of dreams might appear, we can start walking towards them today. We can definitely do, if we see it as a crucial issue, a top priority that we should stick to every day! Then we will be uncomfortable if we do not do it. Just like cleaning our teeth.

and Third: Give first, then we will get

When we are ready to give first before we have even got what we yearn for – what we are dreaming of – we are sending a strong message to ourselves which says, ‘there is enough, and more will come.’ It lets us know the joy today – the joy of sharing.

If you want to be rich, be generous. And you’ll be blessed with abundance. If you want to be superbly intelligent, don’t be afraid to teach others. And you’ll know more. If you want to give, just give selflessly. Do not attach any expectation of return. Just let go. And joy will automatically be rewarded to you. The simple joy of giving.

So do not be hesitant to dole out and share what you have, for it will not prevent you from achieving your purpose, whatever it is. It will only help you to realise your dreams more easily. And your journey through that path would be full of joy.

But are not habits very small, when compared to our BIG dreams?

Just manage do it, no need to worry about the ’scale’.

Because anything is possible in life. We might start things in a small way. And these small things will always take us to another action, and another. Having certainty in our small actions and executing them one by one always takes us forward. But if we thought it was ‘impossible’ to do something now because it just seemed ‘too big’, it will never happen.

The power to achieve one’s dreams has always been there, and will always be there. Those who have managed wonders, sensations, and real joy, already know this. They go on using it.

Dreams and miracles are not accidents. We create them through our choices.

So, are you likely to start moving towards your dreams today?

Commonalities between Your Healthy Whole Body & a Well-Tuned Vehicle

It’s common for us to identify ourselves by our body. We label ourselves tall, short, thin, muscular, curvy, healthy, and unhealthy and so on. Very few of us are able to step outside of this definition and see our body for what it really is – a blessed vehicle which carries us through our joys, our troubles, our victories and our challenges.

Rather than define it and let that definition rule how you treat your body, because really you are much more than tall or short, thin or curvy, why not take supreme care of it. Why not treat it as the wonderful vehicle it is?

Let’s use a common metaphor for the human body, a car. They’re both vehicles which if taken care of will last you a long time. A car, no matter what style or model, will get you where you need to go. Your body, if taken care of, will do the same.

How Do You Care For Your Car And How Do You Care For Your Body?

More often than not, many of us tend to treat our cars better than our own bodies. Our cars get the best gas in the tank, even if it’s more expensive that regular gas. Following this act of generosity towards our car, we proceed to fueling our bodies with food void of any nutritional value. We begin a ritual of washing our cars every week, with the metaphor being a car spa but yet we rarely spend time or money on any ritual of basic self care.

We ignore the knocks and pings the very loud signals our body gives us when it needs something and yet the slightest shimmy or gurgle from under the hood of our car sends us to the auto mechanic for a diagnostic.

You might be thinking ‘but it’s dangerous to ignore these sounds from your car.” This is true, squeaking brakes or a grinding noise from the rear axel could cause an accident. However, the sounds and signals your body gives you are just as dangerous. We’ve all heard the horror stories about a friend or family member who ignored the signs and then it was too late.

Instead of continuing to follow this path, appreciate whatever shape, form and situation your body is in. It has taken you where you have needed to go, and so far hasn’t let you down. Embrace your healthy whole body as of right now, because while you are much more than your body itself, you just can’t exist and experience life without it.

Some Questions to Consider:

If you don’t take care of your car, it will be of no help to you when you need it. This includes putting in the proper fuel. If you are not, start making small changes beginning today. Drink enough water; replace junk food or fast food with food high in nutrients. Your body will take you far if you feed it well.

Are you noticing the check engine light shining at you from the dashboard? This is self care we are talking about here. It doesn’t have to be massages twice a week or expensive spa weekends four times a year, but if you can afford it, by all means, enjoy! If this isn’t a possibility, go for a walk, enjoy a bubble bath in candle light, schedule a family game night – there are many fantastic ways to take a step back to enjoy your life, find a balance and take care of the signals your body is shouting at you to be recognized.

It makes complete sense to take care of your personal well-being in all ways you know how and are capable of. You can choose to wait until the car breaks down on the side of the road to get the repaired done, or you can choose regular maintenance, bringing the car in for diagnostic checks at the first sign of a shudder or rattle that doesn’t feel right, or that spot of oil you just noticed in the driveway, any problem.

Last but not least, when you find the tread wearing thin on your tires, you replace them right? Each of us needs to take time out to evaluate the steady running of our lives, where we are and where we want to be. It’s normal for our needs change over time and ignoring these changing needs results in us ignoring who we really are – and this is not good for our health or our happiness.

So, next time you’re at the gas station or washing your car step back and remember that you wouldn’t be able to do any of those tasks if it weren’t for the divine vehicle you’re residing in – your body. Take great care of it; it’s the only one you get.

How Your Healthy Whole Body & Well-Tuned Vehicles are Similar

More often than not people will identify themselves by their body. With labels of tall, short, thin, muscular, curvy, healthy, and unhealthy and the like, there are actually very few who are able to step outside of these ‘traditional’ definitions we have adopted so readily. Our flesh holds a blessed vehicle for us to carry with us our personal joys and troubles, our victories and our challenges.

Why not take supreme and ultimate care of the wonderful vehicle your body actually is, instead of defining it, allowing that definition of tall or short, thin or curvy, to completely rule how you ultimately decide to treat your body?

Let’s use a common metaphor for the human body, a car. They’re both vehicles which if taken care of will last you a long time. A car, no matter what style or model, will get you where you need to go. Your body, if taken care of, will do the same.

How Do You Treat Your Car And How Do You Treat Your Body?

Often our cars receive better treatment than we do our very own bodies. From premium gas (no matter how much more expensive it is) to the scheduled cleaning on a regular basis, our automobiles are living the good life so to speak. Meanwhile, we are filling our bodies with junk food lacking in nutritional value, as well as not taking the time or money for basic care for our body and soul.

We find it easy to ignore the knocks, pings and unmistakable signals delivered to us by our body when some requirement isn’t being met, but the slightest slurp, whoosh or gurgle from our car kicks us into overdrive to get to the mechanic’s for a check-up and prescription.

Rather than continue on a possible path to destruction, appreciate your body in whatever situation it is in. It’s been pretty good to you this far, having taken you where you have needed to go, and hasn’t let you down as of yet. If you start taking fantastic care of it today, you will be able to embrace you healthy whole body.

Consider The Following Questions:

If you don’t take care of your car, it will be of no help to you when you need it. This includes putting in the proper fuel. If you are not, start making small changes beginning today. Drink enough water; replace junk food or fast food with food high in nutrients. Your body will take you far if you feed it well.

There’s a blinking ‘check engine’ light on your dashboard, trying to be noticed. We are talking about self care here. Have you scheduled in some time for yourself, for checkups and some personal down time? Taking a walk or hike with family and friends, or a weekly date night with your sweetheart – there are many options available for taking a step away to enjoy the life you have been given, find the balance to make it all happen, and first and foremost, start paying attention to the signals your body is sending you.

As we finish with our comparison, when the tread has worn thin on tires, you replace them. So what do you do when your own treads are running thin? We all need some personal time to make a thorough evaluation of our lives, where we find ourselves now, and where we would like to see ourselves later on. It’s possible for our needs to change over time, and we have to pay attention to these changes, because if we ignore them, we are ignoring who we are, and that’s not a good thing when it comes to our health and happiness.

So remember, the next time you stop for gas or wash your car, take a moment to step back and think how you wouldn’t be able to complete any of these tasks without the divine vehicle you live in – your body. Take care of it, pamper it; it’s the only one you’re going to get.

Self-Hypnosis as a Smoking Cessation Therapy

A very misunderstood self-help and relaxation subject is hypnosis. Perhaps one of the biggest reasons that hypnosis is misunderstood is that most people are only familiar with stage hypnosis. During all stage sessions, participants are pre-qualified, and only the most suggestible subjects are actually brought into the performance.

The second common misconception is that people believe a hypnotist can force them to do strange things like clucking like a chicken. The fact is that a hypnotherapist can’t make you do anything that you don’t want to do, or are incapable of doing. If it’s against your nature, you won’t do it, hypnotized or not. The subjects on stage performing outrageous acts are uninhibited and outgoing by nature, and that’s why they’re on stage in the first place.

Hypnosis is only a form of guided relaxation. That’s it. Even without the magic, hypnotherapy can work wonders for retraining your brain (e.g. to quit smoking or change a destructive habit). When your brain is open to suggestion, you are more likely to absorb positive affirmations, and the goal of hypnosis is to help you open yourself to suggestion.

Another way to look at hypnotherapy is that it’s positive affirmations or positive self-talk made when the mind is relaxed. So there should be nothing mysterious about hypnosis. If you understand meditation, you understand hypnosis, i.e. leading your body and mind into a relaxed state.

Some people are more suggestible than others and some people are naturally averse to hypnosis altogether. About one out of five people will likely be resistant to hypnosis, but others will be able to implant positive messages into their subconscious, relax, and put themselves to sleep.

Smoking in particular is a good candidate for hypnotherapy because much of the addiction is psychological, and that is an area the self-hypnosis can help you address. Considering the expense of cigarettes, and the expense of typical cessation programs like nicotine gum, the patch, shots, and the like, the modest investment in a simple hypnotherapy quit smoking audio that you can listen to in the comfort of your home is attractive.

At the very least, hypnosis will help you relax, lower stress levels, and balance yourself. If you are a smoker, a hypnosis smoking cessation program might be just what the doctor ordered, and you can safely participate in one without worrying about clucking at odd hours of the day!
